Today, furniture is one of the most important and dynamic sector in Turkey with over
US$ 6 billion production, almost 25% of which is marketed in international markets,
and with 300.000 jobs in 60.000 companies. The furniture industry also has particular
importance for Turkey due to its promising export potential.
Turkey exports US$ 1,5 billion furniture of the manufacturing capacity of US$ 11
billion in 2009. The Association of Turkish Furniture Manufacturers aims to witness
exports reaching US$ 2.5 billion by 2010. The technological investment to the
industry costs US$ 10 billion.
The industry is clustered mainly in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa (Inegol) and Kayseri.
These regions are either in the center of forest resources or near large domestic
markets.
